Most shell collectors probably have one or more collections besides shells. Most of us have the "collectionitis" virus, which has no cure.... Collecting is not just a matter of piling up "useless" stuff as many of your friends probably have referred to your precious shells. The simple act of collecting is a way to increase cerebral capacity with the extra knowledge necessary to understand your hobby. For example, how many non-collectors do you know who are able to point to the Philippines on the map? Or know about poisonous creatures in the sea which you certainly have heard about or seen on trips?
